Looking Down the Barrel:
Our Local's Website

"Actions to correct this disappointment are long overdue."

You may have visited Steel Barrel News recently and discovered the new links on the S.B.N. home page, which serve up pertinent information that may otherwise be difficult to obtain. It is quite a list of organizations including links to our International, the AFL/CIO, State and Federal Departments of Labor, Indiana Workforce Development, and others. They are informative and educational and important to us all.

But . . . how-in-the-hell can anyone click onto that "ILA Local 2038" web sight and feel they can learn anything about our local. The last update to this site was on March 17, 2006, with much of the "information" (I use the term laughingly) dated in months from the year 2000.

All I care to add to this is…if one penny of union funds has been spent to maintain the web address where this dusty, antiquated collection of Local 2038 history resides, it was too much. In my opinion, even when it was up-to-date its contents were inane. Actions to correct this disappointment are long over due.

I wasn't able to attend our last General Membership meeting so I didn't get to personally hear the reasons given as to why there has been nothing done about breaking away and becoming our own ILA local. So all I have to offer is just another reason that I think it would be a good idea to break away.

The Steel Barrel News is not only an irreplaceable information source, and relief valve, for our membership, it has also become the nucleus of actions for long awaited improvements in this union. I'm not sure what the intentions behind creating the "ILA Local 2038" website were, but it sure fell short of what was needed.

If there is anyone left that thinks the intentions of anyone associated with S.B.N. is to destroy this local union, or demean the goals of its devoted representatives, then they are just not paying attention, or their head has become a suppository.
