Election Protest to be Filed

Several members of Local 2038 are to file a "Protest of Election" today against the nomination and election of top officers (President, Secretary-Treasurer, and Business Agent) that was conducted at the Union Hall in Portage on Thursday of this week amid much confusion and controversy.

"Dude! Who the hell do these f***ing a**holes think they are? Do they think we are a bunch of f***ing illiterate morons?" asked Jason Osteen of Black Oak as he brandished a highlighted copy of Local 2038's by-laws. "I can read, and it says right here, in 3 different places that the membership and division officers elect these jerks, not just the officers." Mr. Osteen had just been turned away from the polls and told he was not qualified to vote in this election because he is not a division officer.

He was standing in the middle of a throng of turned away, would-be voters who were waiting to sign a petition that protested the election. "I paid over $1,500 in f***ing Union dues last year and I don't even get to vote in this horse**it election!" said another voice in the crowd, "Where the hell do I sign?"

"What about me?" said Jeff Kleefisch of Valparaiso. "I'm running for President and I can't even vote for myself. But the guy running against me gets to vote."

The petition was to be turned in to the Secretary-Treasurer early on Friday morning. For the petition to be valid it requires only one signature. The protest hearing will take place before a tribunal made up of the President, the Secretary-Treasurer, and the Business Agent, whenever they schedule it.
